Cliff Island

Our ecologically pristine island

Cliff Island (c. 60 acres / 24 ha) is ecologically pristine and has never been inhabited or modified by human activity. This may be because the island lacks easy landing sites, with cliffs (duh) ringing most of the island, and awkward rock slabs on the rest of the coast.

It is situated about 3 km northwest of Bense Island and is completely covered by dense tussock grass. This island supports a wide variety of both sea and land birds and has a small breeding colony of sea lions on the eastern side.
